Project Description

The overall objective of this assignment was to provide top-notch expertise to the Government of Kazakhstan and UNDP CO in Kazakhstan on post-Covid-19 socio-economic recovery measures. Under the supervision of the DRR, the Advisor helped analyse the dynamically evolving situation and develop policy options (measures) in consultation with ministries of national economy, labour and social protection of population and other partners. There were several activities for the UN Development System, Ministry of National Economy and Prime Minister´s Office:

  • Overall national post-crisis recovery approaches with focus on socio-economic policy measures;
  • Support measures to the most vulnerable groups of population in line with ‘leaving no one behind principle’;
  • Measures for labour market modernization (job generation, labour force resilience and mobility, reskilling and upskilling programmes);
  • Economic support measures, including support to businesses, in particular SMEs;
  • Support to emerging industries with high jobs generation potential;
  • Cross-sectoral digitalization and technological transformation of economy as an integral element of national recovery strategy.
